The municipality was awarded the local coat of arms on April 3, 1939 by the President of the Province of Hanover . The district administrator from Alfeld presented it on July 6th of the same year.
Blazon : "A red pole in a golden shield , covered with a fallen golden sword from the Bronze Age." | |
Foundation of the coat of arms: When the Marienburg, which was initially located in Nordstemmen , was built, a large number of splendid bronze jewelry and weapons made of the same metal were recovered from the primeval fortification, the Schulenburg , in which the aforementioned castle was placed. This also includes the remains of a sword, which were used as the basis for the design of the coat of arms for Nordstemmen. The municipality of Nordstemmen used this splendid symbol of their ancestors' ability to defend themselves in order to let it speak in a meaningful way in shields and seals. |
flag
The flag of the municipality of Nordstemmen shows the colors yellow and red in two longitudinal stripes of equal width.
Culture and sights
Buildings
- Reception building in Nordstemmen station
- The reception building of the train station in Nordstemmen was built from 1853 to 1854 by the two architects Conrad Wilhelm Hase and Julius Rasch in brick and arched style as a royal reception station for Marienburg Castle. It forms an ensemble with Marienburg Castle . In the years 1858 to 1860 Conrad Wilhelm Hase designed the royal waiting room inside the reception building and a buffet for the court in the station restaurant. King George V of Hanover left the train with his court in Nordstemmen when he wanted to travel to Marienburg. The emperor also drove to the Marienburg via Nordstemmen station.
- The reception building has not been used for many years and is closed due to its structural condition. The building's state of preservation has deteriorated considerably due to the spread of dry rot in parts of the wooden structure. The building is now threatened with total loss. Since 2011, the Hildesheim building contractor Dirk Bettels has tried in vain to purchase the reception building built by Conrad Wilhelm Hase with promised public funds and to renovate it true to the original. In August 2013, Dirk Bettels withdrew from the construction project because no contract had been concluded with Deutsche Bahn AG for the purchase of the reception building. The construction work started in the qualification project for 25 unemployed people had to be stopped on August 30, 2013 before their training was completed. On the same day there was possibly one last conversation between representatives of the preservation of monuments, the municipality of Nordstemmen and Deutsche Bahn in the Nordstemmen town hall. The meeting was unsuccessful and ended without any firm agreements and without a new date. (As of January 5, 2014.)
- Marienburg Castle on the Marienberg
- Marienburg Castle, located northwest of Nordstemmen and belonging to the city of Pattensen, was built from 1857 to 1867 by the architects Conrad Wilhelm Hase, Ludwig Frühling and Edwin Oppler . It was a gift from King George V of Hanover to his wife, Queen Marie . Part of the castle has been restored, various tours, climbing the tower, gastronomy and various events are offered in the summer half-year (as of 2012).
- Marienburg Castle is located 135 m above sea level on the south-western slope of the Marienberg, which is made of sandstone from the lower Triassic and represents the south-eastern part of the Schulenburger Berg. The Marienberg is bounded to the west by the Adenser Berg and touched to the southeast by the Leine river and the K 505 district road. The K 505 crosses the Leine on the Marienberg Bridge. From the castle tower and from the south side of the castle building you have a wide view of the Leine valley. The northern slopes of the Adenser Mountain, the Schulenburger Mountain and the Marienberg have been part of the Calenberger Leinetal conservation area since 1997 .
- During the construction of Marienburg Castle, the Marienberg was redesigned into a romantic castle park, and footpaths were created that invite you to hike on the Marienberg and the neighboring Adenser Berg. The medieval ramparts around the Marienburg and the former watch tower can be visited. From the paths on the edge of the forest of the Adenser Berg there are views of the Hallertal and the Calenberger Land .
- Rössing manor
- In the Rössing district there is a manor with the residence of the von Rössing family . The moated castle was built by Ludolph von Rössing on the ruined castle as a two-story half-timbered building from the Renaissance and completed in 1589.
Nature reserve "Leineaue under the Rammelsberg"
The nature reserve Leineaue under the Rammelsberg lies between Gronau (Leine) and Elze and places a section of the middle course of the Leine with its floodplain and parts of the slopes of the Uthberg and the Großer Rammelsberg in the east under protection. The periodically flooded lowland is characterized by the meandering river course with oxbow lakes and flood channels. The line is often accompanied by remains of alluvial forest . In addition, there are wet meadows and fallow land rich in shrubs . The slopes included in the nature reserve are characterized by forests and shrubbery as well as remnants of poor grassland and orchards .

- There is also the small-caliber Schützen-Gesellschaft Nordstemmen (KKS Nordstemmen), which is represented in the 1st Bundesliga air rifle of the German Rifle Federation and is therefore the most successful sports club in the community.

During the reading by the authors, the fourth grade pupils will hand over the “Nordstemmer Zuckerrübe” by the artist Jan Obornik and the prize awarded by the VGH Foundation , which is endowed with 1111 euros.

traffic
The station in Nordstemmen is a wedge station and is located as a transfer station on the Hanover – Göttingen railway line and on the Lehrte – Nordstemmen railway line . There are free connections in the direction of Hanover, Göttingen, Hildesheim / Bodenburg and in the direction of Bünde (Westf) - Löhne (Westf) - Hameln . With the exception of nightly hours, the Nordstemmen station is served every hour by trains of the metronom railway company and the NordWestBahn (Weserbahn). After the opening of the high-speed line from Hanover to Würzburg in 1991, through traffic at Nordstemmen station fell sharply.
Nordstemmen station was rebuilt in 2006. The station received higher platforms and ramps for the disabled; the northern tunnel was extended to the east to Bahnhofstrasse , where a park-and-ride facility and a bus stop were created. The state contributed around 5.5 million euros to the total investment costs of more than 8 million euros.
In addition, there is a stop in the district of Barnten on the route towards Hanover, where almost exclusively the S-Bahn lines S 4 between Hanover Hbf and Hildesheim Hbf stop. Connections with trains that stop in Barnten as well as at Nordstemmen station are not offered.
There are several bus connections to Elze , Hildesheim and Sarstedt . The federal highways B 1 and B 3 run through the municipality.
Rail traffic and traffic noise from Deutsche Bahn in Nordstemmen
In 2015, the Hanover-Göttingen railway line was one of the busiest railway lines in Lower Saxony with up to 240 Deutsche Bahn trains per day. This is the number of Deutsche Bahn AG trains that run through Nordstemmen station every day; in addition, metronome and north-west railway passenger trains that are not counted also run through Nordstemmen station.
In 2015, Deutsche Bahn AG conducted a noise survey through customer surveys of the neighboring residents. Since there are no noise barriers in Nordstemmen, the whole place Nordstemmen is with the noise code number 30 690 in group number four of five noise groups during the day and thus endures the second highest noise pollution of train stations in Lower Saxony. At night, however, Nordstemmen is in the group of the most heavily polluted municipalities with the noise code number 49 720. For comparison: Sarstedt has the noise code number 68 705, Elze 22 630, Alfeld 66 170 at night. This is based on the "noise action plan" of the railway company Federal Office. This noise mapping only applies to trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG. Noise emissions from the metronome and the NordWestBahn are not included. The surrounding noise mapping shows, for example, that Nordstemmen, Burgstemmen and Rössing are completely enveloped by the noise; every resident is affected.
