Manuel Donato Diez

Manuel Donato Diez (born May 21, 1957 in Madrid ) is a Spanish sculptor .

Life

Diez is the son of the painter, sculptor and set designer Manuel Diez-Rollan and his wife, the painter Arlette Jacob-Maquette . Growing up in Berlin, he apprenticed to his father and was a student of Michael Croissant at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main from 1976 to 1979 . From 1977 to 1985 he worked as a wood and stone restorer at the Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus and at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt as well as in Freiburg i. Br. And Hanover active. In 1985 he started his own business as a freelance sculptor. He lives and works in Nordstemmen near Hildesheim. Since 2002 he has had a second studio in the historic mill in Burgstemmen and since 2008 a house and studio in Samois-sur-Seine .

In addition to sculptures with classic Spanish themes such as bullfighting, he created figures with biblical references.

Diez has been a member of the Taylor Foundation and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (Paris) since 2008 , and a member of Le Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec since 2010 .
