The Tindfjöll (1251 m) are a glaciated mountain range in the south of Iceland . They got their name from the fact that they have rather steep peaks compared to the surrounding mountains (tindar = peaks). They are located in the south of the country and border on the Þórsmörk and the Mýrdalsjökull .

They are upstream of the associated Tindfjallajökull glacier .

It is also a volcano , the large caldera of which is visible. A major pyroclastic current eruption occurred 52,000 years ago.
