Franz-Xaver Wack

Franz-Xaver Wack (born March 5, 1965 ) is a former German football referee .

Life

Franz-Xaver Wack was DFB referee for SV Weichs since 1993 . Since 1995 he has directed a total of 53 games in the second division and since 1996 155 games in the first division . In 2002, Wack headed the DFB Cup final that FC Schalke 04 won against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Wack later described this game as a high point in his career.

Wack has been a FIFA referee since 2000 . He headed 7 full international matches and took part in the 2002 U-21 European football championship . He also made 22 appearances in the European Cup. Since January 1, 2007, he no longer directed matches at FIFA level. On November 15, 2006, he was injured during the international match between France and Greece (in Paris). It has not been used since then. On July 21, 2007, the then chairman of the referee committee, Volker Roth , announced that Wack would not continue his career as a referee due to a knee injury. He currently runs a dental practice in Munich-Bogenhausen. Wack is married and has two children.
