Michael Weiner (born March 21, 1969 in Ottenstein ) is a former German football referee .

Soccer

Weiner whistles for TSV Ottenstein . Since 1993 he has been a DFB referee and since 1995 he has been in charge of games in the second Bundesliga. He led his first Bundesliga game on November 6, 1998 when MSV Duisburg played against 1. FC Nürnberg .

Weiner has been a FIFA referee since 2002 , in this role he took part in the 2003 U-19 European Football Championship in Liechtenstein .

On October 25, 2006 Weiner broke off the DFB Cup game Stuttgarter Kickers against Hertha BSC after his assistant Kai Voss from Großhansdorf was hit by a hard plastic cup . On May 26, 2007 he was in charge of the DFB Cup final between VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Nürnberg (2: 3 n.V.).

Weiner left Knut Kircher at the end of 2012 voluntarily as a FIFA referee. Christian Dingert and Tobias Welz were nominated as their successors .

On March 29, 2014 Weiner suffered an Achilles tendon rupture in the 75th minute of the Bundesliga match between VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund . He made his comeback on December 6, 2014 in the 3rd division at the game Stuttgarter Kickers against Wehen Wiesbaden (2: 1).

He ended his active referee career on May 14, 2016.

Weiner has been chairman of the referee committee of the North German Football Association since 2017 and is therefore responsible for the referees of the Regionalliga Nord .

Private

Michael Weiner was chief police officer until 2014 and headed the police station in Holzminden . Weiner now heads a department within the Göttingen Police Department . He lives with his family in Hasede ( Giesen community ) in the Hildesheim district .
