Thorsten Kinhöfer (born June 27, 1968 in Wanne-Eickel ) is a former German football referee .

Life

Kinhöfer lives in Herne , where he first worked for the Herne public utility company. He is currently employed as a managing director at CTH Container Terminal Herne GmbH .

Soccer

Kinhöfer began playing football as a goalkeeper at SV Holsterhausen and DSC Wanne-Eickel . In his youth he experienced limitations from an elbow fracture and knees damaged by ash spots. Already at the age of 16 he passed the referee examination and led games in the F and E youth leagues. After the A-youth he decided to quit as a player and devote himself entirely to refereeing.

Kinhöfer has been a DFB referee for SC Constantin Herne since 1994 . From 1997 he headed games in the second division and from 2001 in the Bundesliga . His first Bundesliga appearance was on September 23, 2001, when he played TSV 1860 Munich against VfL Wolfsburg . In 2003 he directed games in the Korean K-League . In the following years he also directed games in the Saudi Arabian Professional League and the Qatari Stars League .

In 2006 Thorsten Kinhöfer became a FIFA referee. On March 1, 2006, he initiated his first international encounter with the friendly game between the USA and Poland .

In 2010 the DFB Cup final in Berlin was under his direction. From 2014, Bastian Dankert and Tobias Stieler replaced Florian Meyer and Kinhöfer on the FIFA list , who had to retire due to old age.

On May 23, 2015 Kinhöfer led his last game in professional football with the Bundesliga game FC Bayern Munich against 1. FSV Mainz 05 ; due to the current age limit of 47 for referees, he had to retire here as well.
