Hans-Jürgen Weber (born June 15, 1955 ) is a German former football referee from Essen .
Career
Weber made his first division debut as a referee on May 17, 1985. He was a referee 135 times in the Bundesliga . He whistled in professional football until 1999 and was also used as a FIFA referee in European cup competitions internationally.
A curiosity in Weber's Bundesliga career is the fact that both the first and the last game he directed ended 6-1 for the home team: Werder Bremen against 1.FC Kaiserslautern on May 17, 1985 and Hertha BSC against Hamburger SV on May 29. May 1999.
Weber is a member of the DJK sports community in the Franz Sales House in Essen e. V. and since 2004 referee chairman of the West German Football and Athletics Association. In 2010 he was appointed to the referee committee of the DFB.
Private life
As the son of Lutz Weber (regional league referee and later referee chairman and groundskeeper of the Uhlenkrug Stadium ), his son Hans-Jürgen started his football referee career in the cradle.
Weber works full-time at the city administration of Essen.
