Marija Kurtes
Marija Kurtes (born October 29, 1986 in Düsseldorf ) is a German soccer referee . She whistles for the SG Benrath-Hassels club .
Career
Kurtes has been a referee since 2002 and has been active at the DFB level since 2004. As a 17-year-old she was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Two years later she made the leap into the Bundesliga . Since then it has been used in over 91 top division games. When German Cup final of women in 2008 was as a referee assistant used. In 2012, Kurtes was promoted to FIFA referee, replacing Anja Kunick . Within 3 years Kurtes rose to the top UEFA referee category. In 2014 she was appointed to the U-19 European Championship in Norway, where she was in charge of the final in the team.
In the men's division, Kurtes headed games in the then fourth-class Oberliga Nordrhein from 2007 . From 2008 to 2012 she was used in 34 games in the NRW League . After the dissolution of the NRW League, Kurtes is used in the Regionalliga West . In 2014 Kurtes was named referee of the year .
Kurtes gained further notoriety when she broke the rules on April 4, 2015 in the U-19 women's European Championship qualifier between England and Norway. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the referee had decided on a penalty for England with a score of 2: 1 for the Norwegians. The penalty kick was converted, but an English player walked into the box too early. Instead of having the penalty repeated , as provided for in point 14 of the football rules, Kurtes decided on an indirect free kick for Norway. The UEFA then decided for the first time in the history of the association to be repeated a game for a few minutes because of the failure of an arbitrator. On March 10, 2016, she resigned as a referee for the DFB in professional football.
Marija Kurtes works full-time as a research assistant at the RheinAhrCampus in Remagen , where she also lectures.
