FC Bayern Munich was the first in the 1989/90 season of the German Bundesliga and thus German men's championship .

Season overview

As in the previous season , Bayern Munich won the championship ahead of 1. FC Köln . Here too, winning the title was decided early on; two game days before the end of the season, the Munich team was five points ahead. For Eintracht Frankfurt it was the best season since 1977. They won u. a. in Cologne with 5: 3.

The decisive game for relegation was memorable: The two teams Bayer 05 Uerdingen and Borussia Mönchengladbach met on the last match day, both were two points ahead of the relegation places and each needed one point to stay in the league. The game was extremely uneventful and ended 0-0. The VfL Bochum therefore had to play the relegation order to remain in the league.

For the first time, Norwegian Jørn Andersen became the top scorer from a foreign country.
