The Oberliga Berlin in 1989/90 was the sixteenth season of the Berlin Association ballgame teams conducted Oberliga Berlin .
The Reinickendorfer Füchse successfully defended their title from the previous year and qualified for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , in which they missed promotion as fifth in the northern group. Runner-up Hertha Zehlendorf represented Berlin at the German amateur championship finals, in which the team lost in the first round to the amateurs from Karlsruher SC .
In the subordinate regional league, SC Siemensstadt , previous year's promoted Frohnauer SC and Traber FC Mariendorf descended. In return, the league newcomer NSC Marathon 02 rose in the following season and, after a year-long absence, SC Gatow .
For some teams, the first players from the GDR were used in the second half of the season . This was made possible by the political changes and the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989.
