Jörg Blüthmann (born September 2, 1965 in West Berlin ) is a former German soccer player . Since 2003 he has looked after the professional team of Hertha BSC as a physiotherapist for 10 years .

youth

Jörg Blüthmann grew up in the Paul-Hertz-Siedlung in Berlin-Charlottenburg . At the age of six he started playing soccer at Hellas-Nordwest . In 1981 he switched to the Hertha BSC youth department .

Player career

Hertha BSC

In 1984, Blüthmann played under Martin Luppen for the first time in the Hertha professional team and scored three goals in two test matches against BFC Preussen and Spandauer SV . Due to the good performance in the preparation, Jörg Blüthmann recommended himself for the new coach Uwe Kliemann , who nominated him for the second division season 1984/85 for the professional squad. There Blüthmann was used in the first game of the season at 1. FC Nürnberg when he came on for Diego Castro . At the end of the season he had played 14 league games, but none of them over the full distance. In 1985/86 Blüthmann played four of the first games of the season, but then lost ground again. Under Kliemann's successors Hans Eder and Rudi Gutendorf , Blüthmann did not get a chance and even under Jürgen Sundermann he only made a short assignment in the final phase of the season. However, Hertha had to relegate to third division on 1986 for the first time in the club's history. In 1986/87 Hertha dominated the Oberliga Berlin and for Blüthmann personally things went better than ever in the men's division. He played 23 games in which he scored six goals. Blüthmann also belonged to the tribe in the promotion round. However, Hertha lost the last game at home against BVL 08 Remscheid , with which they and the second placed SV Meppen rose to the 2nd division. After the missed promotion, Jürgen Sundermann asked Jörg Blüthmann to choose between being a professional and an amateur.

Reinickendorfer foxes

Then Blüthmann decided to switch to the amateur camp at Reinickendorfer Füchsen in order to pursue his job as a banker at the same time . With the Foxes he was third in the Oberliga Berlin in 1987/88 . After Hertha was promoted, the Foxes won the league in 1988/89 , but failed as fourth in the promotion round. In the following season , the Reinickendorfer were able to defend the title as Berlin champion, but had to repeatedly admit defeat to the competition in the promotion round.

BSV Stahl Brandenburg

In 1990 Jörg Blüthmann became the first West German soccer player to move to the former GDR for BSV Stahl Brandenburg , where he signed a contract for three years. Nevertheless, Blüthmann stayed in Berlin and commuted a total of 150 km every day. Because of this, there were negative tones among his teammates who demanded that his contract be disclosed. Despite the eighth place in the last GDR league season and the associated qualification for the all-German second division, the relationship with his teammates was permanently disturbed, whereupon Jörg Blüthmann left Brandenburg again after only one season.

Reinickendorfer foxes

Then Blüthmann returned for a year to the Füchsen, which occupied a midfield position in the newly formed Oberliga Nordost Nord .

Türkiyemspor Berlin

In 1992, Blüthmann moved to Türkiyemspor Berlin in the middle of the Oberliga Nordost, where he stayed for two years. With Türkiyemspor, Blüthmann reached fourth place in the 1992/93 season . The game year 1993/94 closed Türkiyemspor from third, which qualified for the new third-class regional league .

Hertha Zehlendorf

In 1994 Jörg Blüthmann went to Hertha Zehlendorf, who also played in the regional league, together with Alf Fistler , Norbert Henkel and coach Thomas Grunenberg from Türkiyemspor . There Hertha 03 finished 10th in 1994/95 . Also in 1995/96 a midfield place in the northeast relay was occupied as twelfth. After the 1997/98 season and 15th place, Jörg Blüthmann ended his career as a football player.

Coaching career

After Jörg Blüthmann had left Zehlendorf, he took over the coaching position of the regional league team Roland Borsigwalde in 1998 .

Later he was under contract as Mirko Slomka's assistant coach at Tennis Borussia.

He was also employed as a youth coach at Hertha Zehlendorf.

Career as a physiotherapist

In 1997, Jörg Blüthmann and a friend opened a physiotherapy practice, although he was still playing at Hertha Zehlendorf for a year at the same time.

In 2000, in addition to his work in his practice, Blüthmann began working as a physiotherapist at 1. FC Union Berlin , where he worked for three years before quitting due to the poor working conditions. Then Blüthmann left his practice and started working as a physiotherapist at Hertha BSC. In 2013 he was dismissed as a physiotherapist at Hertha BSC. He then took on the supervision of Bundesliga basketball team ALBA Berlin for 18 months. With them he became German runner-up and cup winner. Today he works in a physiotherapy practice again.

At the 2006 World Cup , Blüthmann was appointed physiotherapist for the referees, as was the case in the final between France and Italy .

Trivia

In addition to training as a physiotherapist and banker, Blüthmann also completed training as an advertising clerk and biology laboratory assistant .

In 2002 Jörg Blüthmann was a founding member of the Hertha Seniors, for which he still competes regularly today.
