Relegation
The respective relay winners of the Oberliga Nordost qualified for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , whereupon the teams faced each other in the first and second leg and thus each played four games to determine the promoter. The team from Energie Cottbus , who moved up to replace the winner of the middle season 1. FC Union , lost all four games, which is why the direct clashes between the winners of the south and north seasons were decisive.
