Mataderos is a district in the southwest of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . It has almost 65,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of ​​7.6 km² . It belongs to the "Comuna" (district) C9 and is one of the less densely populated districts.

Mataderos got its name because of its function: the district used to be the location for both the slaughterhouse and a cattle market (Spanish: “Matadero” = slaughterhouse).
