Villa Real is a district on the western outskirts of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . The district has a good 14,000 inhabitants on an area of 1.5 km² . It is one of the smallest quarters of the city and is part of Comuna C10.

description

In 1804 the Virrey de Sobremonte built a summer house there, which is why the area was then called "Quinta de los Virreyes". The current name "Villa Real", which the quarter officially bears since March 18, 1909, emerged from Virreyes. For this reason, the District Day is celebrated every year on March 18, 2009 for the hundredth time.

Villa Real is bounded by the streets Nogoyá, Irigoyen, Baigorria, Lope de Vega and Avenida General Paz . Today the district is predominantly a residential area of the middle class and characterized by older houses and large gardens. Economic life takes place around Lope de Vega street, the most important squares in the district are Plaza Juan B. Terán (named after the founder of the University of Tucumán) and Plaza Villa Real. The Museo del Automóvil (Auto Museum) is located near the Plaza Villa Real.

Like many other parts of Buenos Aires, Villa Real was immortalized in a song. In the song “La murguita de Villa Real” by Alejandro del Prado it says: “Tirando la manga por la tardecita, llegó la murguita de Villa Real! de Villa Real! "
