Location of Parque Chas in Buenos Aires

Parque Chas is a district in the northwest of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . With 1.4 km² it is the smallest of the 48 districts of Buenos Aires, has almost 19,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) and belongs to Comuna C15.

Center of Parque Chas

Parque Chas is bordered by the streets La Pampa, Triunvirato, Combatientes de Malvinas, Chorroarín and Constituyentes. The quarter is the only one that is not laid out in the usual checkerboard pattern. Victorica, Avalos and Gándara streets meet in the center of the district where they come to a roundabout. The other streets of Parque Chas are concentric to this roundabout and named after European cities. Only near the large Avenidas La Pampa, Triunvirato and de Los Incas are streets in a checkerboard pattern. The quarter also has two small parks, Parque Chas is named after one of them.

To contrast it with the rest of the city, several writers, including Alejandro Dolina , mentioned Parque Chas as a place to get lost (literally or metaphorically).

Parque Chas is not only the smallest, but also legally one of the youngest districts. Until 2005 it belonged to the neighboring Agronomía , but was then awarded the status of a district.
