description

In 1703 Don Pedro Fernández de Castro bought a piece of land, at that time still far away from Buenos Aires. He died just days later and his daughter Ana inherited the property. As a name, however, Chacra de Castro (Castro's farm) or Montes de Castro (Castro's mountain) was remembered, from which the name of the current district developed.

Today Monte Castro is a middle-class residential area, even if the Compañía General de Construcciones built inexpensive (social) housing at the end of the 1930s, which are now being recycled. Overall, the development is low and there are only a few high-rise buildings.

Monte Castro is home to the All Boys , a football club that was originally founded in Floresta , but moved to Monte Castro in 1924. Its stadium is the Estadio Islas Malvinas .

The district day takes place every year on May 14th to commemorate Don Castro's purchase of land.
