Mount Castro is a 1630 m high mountain in the center of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises on the northern flank of the Seller Glacier at a distance of 8 km southeast of Mount Gilbert .

Aerial photographs of the mountain were taken in February 1937 during the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) and in November 1947 during the US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948). The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a survey in December 1958. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the mountain after the Portuguese navigator João de Castro (1500–1548), who made pioneering attempts to explain the declination of compasses .
