The Football Oberliga Nord 1989/90 was the sixteenth season of the third-class Oberliga Nord run by the North German Football Association .
The champions were VfB Oldenburg , who, like runner-up TSV Havelse, qualified for the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . There, Oldenburg and Havelse finished tied for first and second places in the northern group and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
The third-placed TuS Hoisdorf took part in the German amateur championship final, in which the team lost to TuS Paderborn-Neuhaus in the first round .
Last year's climbers TuS Esens and FC Mahndorf descended into one of the subordinate leagues . With the promotion of VfB Oldenburg and TSV Havelse to the 2nd Bundesliga, in return for the following season, TuS Celle and VfL Stade , Eintracht Nordhorn and Eutin 08 were promoted to the Oberliga Nord.
