Carsten Linke (born September 19, 1965 in Bad Zwischenahn ) is a former German football player and functionary .

Linke played in the 2nd Bundesliga for the clubs VfB Oldenburg and FC 08 Homburg during the 1990s . In 1995 he moved to Hannover 96 , where he rose to become a figure of identification for fans. In 1998 he and the team were promoted from the regional league to the 2nd Bundesliga and in 2002 from the 2nd to the 1st Bundesliga . There he played his first Bundesliga game at the age of 36. During his playing days, in which he played 215 games for the Reds , Linke was the Hanoverian crowd's favorite. He is still called the " football god " by fans today.

Carsten Linke played a total of 313 games in the 2nd Bundesliga, in which he scored 47 goals. In the Bundesliga he made 15 games and one goal in the last season of his professional career.

After retiring from his career, he became the club's assistant manager in 2003 and later became a sports manager. On March 30, 2007, the cooperation between Hannover 96 and Carsten Linke was prematurely terminated, as his field of responsibility overlapped with that of the new 96 sports director Christian Hochstätter .

Since February 21, 2008 Linke has held the position of sports director at FC Carl Zeiss Jena . On March 23, 2009 he was released from the position of sports director and worked until the end of his contract in June 2009 as managing director of FC Carl Zeiss Jena Spielbetriebs GmbH.

At the general meeting on March 23, 2019, Linke was appointed to the supervisory board of Hannover 96 e. V. elected.
