The Football Oberliga Nord 1990/91 was the seventeenth season of the third-class Oberliga Nord run by the North German Football Association .
The champions were VfL Wolfsburg , who, like runner-up 1. SC Göttingen 05, qualified for the promotion round to the 2. Bundesliga . In the northern group there, Wolfsburg and Göttingen took second and third place and remained in the Oberliga Nord.
The third-placed team from Werder Bremen took part in the German amateur championship , where they won the title in the final at SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg .
Concordia Hamburg , Wolfenbütteler SV , last year's promoted Eutin 08 and Arminia Hannover were relegated to one of the subordinate leagues . In return for the following season, Kickers Emden and OT Bremen were promoted to the Oberliga Nord. With the TSV Havelse came a relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga.
