The 1990/91 season of the NOFV League was the last season of the second highest division in the GDR . Since reunification took place during the season and the German Football Association of the GDR joined the German Football Association , the newly founded Northeast German Football Association (NOFV) served as the official namesake for the former GDR league . The relay win was secured by 1. FC Union Berlin (relay A) and FSV Zwickau (relay B), which meant qualification for the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga .
mode
The game was played in two seasons of 16 teams each (regional aspects). In a double round with a return game, the relay winners and relegated teams were determined. The other teams were incorporated into the Oberliga Nordost as a third-class league for the 1991/92 season together with the qualified teams of the amateur Oberliga Berlin .
