SV Chemie Guben

The SV Chemie Guben 1990 is a sports club from Guben in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse . He is best known for his soccer and handball team. He also has a well-known women's chess team. It emerged in 1990 from the BSG Chemie Guben, which existed during the GDR era .

The 1. FC Guben in 1923 from the created in 1910 football department of the MTV Guben founded. In the mid-1930s, 1. FC Guben was promoted to the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg . The then top German league had to leave the southern Brandenburg after just one season together with SC Union Oberschöneweide .

After the Second World War, 1. FC Guben was dissolved in 1945 and re-established as SG Guben-Mitte . In the following years, the club faced several changes of name. Renamed in the early 1950s to KWU Guben and progress Guben , from 1961 the name was changed to BSG Chemie Wilhelm-Pieck -Stadt Guben . On a sporting level, the Lausitzers made it to the GDR league against TSG Gröditz in the 1985/86 promotion round . The second highest division of the GDR had to leave Chemie Guben as the knocked-down bottom of the table after only one season.

In 1989 Guben managed a more successful return to the GDR league. In the first season a secured midfield position could be fought. In the following season, second place was achieved behind 1. FC Union Berlin , and the promotion was only just missed.

After the reunification, the association was reorganized as SV Chemie Guben in 1990 . The football department left the club in 2003. This department merged with ESV Lok Guben to form 1. FC Guben .

Women

In the 1990/91 season, the women's handball team of SV Chemie Guben took second place in the north relay of the GDR league behind SV Blau-Weiß Frankfurt. Since the Frankfurt team did not take advantage of the opportunity of promotion, the team from Guben rose to the Bundesliga . In the 1991/92 season they were divided into the North Season and were knocked off penultimate because the TSV Tempelhof-Mariendorf withdrew their team after 13 matchdays and is therefore rated bottom of the table. The SV Chemie Guben could not get a single point in the season and are in last place in the all-time league table behind the also pointless Post SV Karlsruhe .

After this descent, the SV Chemie Guben team withdrew and is currently playing in the association league .

Men

After the handball men of BSG Chemie Guben rose to the GDR league and the department changed to SV Chemie Gruben, the team played as SV Chemie Gruben in the last season of the GDR league. As eighth in the table, the team qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1991/92 season they finished eleventh and had to compete in the regional league. After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga, the handball department was immediately relegated from the regional league.

Arrived in the Brandenburg Oberliga, the team just missed a direct return to the regional league in the 1993/94 season as runner-up behind MTV Lok Wünsdorf, and after relegation from the Oberliga in the 1997/98 season, SV Chemie Guben disappeared from the supraregional league Handball. The handball department then continued to disappear and the club's first team is currently playing in the association league .

In the last season of the GDR league , the soccer department of SV Chemie Guben started. In the 1990/91 season the team finished second behind 1. FC Union Berlin . This qualified the team for the Oberliga Nordost and for the qualifying rounds of the DFB Cup 1991/92 .

In the first qualification of the DFB Cup, SV Chemie Guben entered the next qualifying round without a fight against PSV Schwerin . There they met the Bischofswerdaer FV 08 , which the team defeated 4: 3. In the last qualifying round, the team met 1. Suhler SV and qualified for the DFB Cup with a 4-2 win. Despite the qualification, SV Chemie Guben did not take part in the DFB Cup.

In addition, the team on Guben did not appear in the Oberliga Nordost and the football department then quickly disappeared into oblivion and has since played at the state level. In 2003 the football department merged with ESV Lok Guben and re-established 1. FC Guben . The current league is the seventh-class Brandenburg State League in the southern season

In the last GDR season, the chess department of SV Chemie Guben qualified for the newly founded Women's Chess League . In the 1991/92 season , the team rose as the penultimate from the Bundesliga. The department rose to the 1996/97 season in the German Chess League. As the bottom of the table, the team immediately rose again. The renewed promotion took place in the 1998/99 season and in the 1999/2000 season , the team of SV Chemie Guben could not achieve relegation in the Bundesliga.

It was not until the 2009/10 season that the department was able to qualify again for the German Chess League. As a climber, the women from SV Chemie Guben achieved fourth place in the 2010/11 season and secured their place in the first division. In the following season , the department could not build on the success of the previous season and was able to celebrate relegation by finishing ninth. In the 2012/13 season , the downward trend continued and the department had to be relegated to the penultimate from the Bundesliga.

Well-known chess players of the club are for example the two Polish women Anna Fojudzka , Barbara Jaracz and Joanna Majdan . The Ukrainian Jewhenija Doluchanowa also played for SV Chemie Guben.
