Barbara Jaracz (née Grabarska, born June 8, 1977 in Gubin ) is a Polish chess player and women's grandmaster since 2007.

Barbara Jaracz has been one of the best Polish chess players since the mid-1990s. Her first participation in the Polish Women's Championship was in Warsaw in 1995 . There were seven championships up to 2002, where she won two medals: silver in 1997 and bronze in 2001.

In 1995 she represented Poland at the European Youth Championships in the U18 female age group in Żagań . In 1997 she took part in the Junior World Championship under 20 years. In the same year she played in Pula at the women's team championship , where she achieved the third-best result on the second board with 5.5 points from 7 games. Two years later in Batumi she took part again, this time as a reserve player.

With her highest Elo rating of 2342 in April 2003, she was 101st in the world rankings for women and 6th among Polish players.

At the 5th Open International Bavarian Championship 2001 in Bad Wiessee , she (6 out of 9) and her future husband (7 out of 9) played. Vladimir Akopian won the championship. The couple also took part in the 6th Open International Bavarian Championship in 2002.

In 2007 Jaracz was awarded the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM), she fulfilled the required standards in August 2001 at the Rubinstein Memorial Tournament in Polanica-Zdrój , in December 2002 at the Böblinger Open and in May 2007 at the 25th Liechtenstein Open.

Barbara Jaracz played in the Polish team championship in 1994 and 1996 for LKS ZPD Jasień , in 1999 for KSz Rzemiosło Racibórz , from 2000 to 2005 for AZS UMCS Lublin , which she also represented at the Polish women's team championship from 2009 to 2012 and for GK Baszta since 2012 MOS Żnin . In Germany, she was registered with SV Chemie Guben from 1995 to 2013 and played with them mainly in the women's second division and in the 1996/97, 1999/2000 and from 2010 to 2013 women's first division. In the 2019/20 season she plays for Weißblau Allianz Leipzig in the women's Bundesliga . Jaracz has been playing for Manx Liberty in the British Four Nations Chess League since 2018 .

Private

Her husband is Grand Master Paweł Jaracz and also a Polish chess player.
