The BSG Chemie Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben was a company sports association from Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben , which was founded after the Second World War as the unofficial successor to 1. FC Guben . The association was also under the names BSG KWU Rot-Weiß Guben and BSG Progress Guben . After the reunification , the association was re-established as SV Chemie Guben .

prehistory

1. FC Guben was founded in 1923 from the football department of MTV Guben created in 1910   . In the mid-1930s, 1. FC Guben was promoted to the  Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg . The then top German league had to leave the southern Brandenburg after just one season together with  SC Union Oberschöneweide  . After the  Second World War  , the 1. FC Guben club, like all other clubs, was dissolved.

After the Second World War, 1. FC Guben was  re-established as  SG Guben-Mitte . After the season, the club was reorganized into a company sports community , which was called BSG KWU Rot-Weiß Guben . In the 1949/50 season, the team took tenth place under the new name. In 1950 the association was renamed BSG Progress Guben . In 1961 the club was renamed again. The association now entered under the name BSG Chemie Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben . After the reunification , the association was re-established as SV Chemie Guben .

Handball

For the 1971/72 season, the handball players of BSG Chemie Guben rose to the GDR league, the second highest league in GDR handball. Chemistry Guben was able to hold onto the class as fourth place in the south relay. With a fifth place in the following season, the handball players from Guben could confirm their performances from the previous season. Before the 1973/74 season they were regrouped in the North Season and at the end of the season they finished second behind the second team from SC Empor Rostock and thus qualified for relegation to promotion to the GDR league . There the team met BSG Empor Brandenburger Tor Berlin , which the team had taken over from SG Dynamo Weißensee , as well as BSG Post Magdeburg and BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt . As the first place one secured a place in the GDR upper league.

In the first GDR league season they finished eighth after the main round and thus had to go into the relegation round, where they secured relegation just like the BSG Halloren Halle and the HSG DHfK Leipzig . The 1975/76 season was played back and forth and the team from Guben secured eighth place just to stay in the league. The 1976/77 season was played again as the main round and relegation and championship round. As the penultimate of the main round you could not prevent relegation in the relegation round.

In the following season one managed the direct promotion back to the GDR league. At the end of the GDR league season, they finished penultimate and had to relegate from the league together with BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt . The team missed another promotion with a fifth place. Also in the following seasons one missed promotion to the GDR league.

Soccer

After World War II, the footballers played the former 1. FC pits as SG pits center in the season 1948/49 in the Landesklasse Brandenburg . In the East season, the team took fifth place. The next season the footballers competed as part of the BSG KWU Rot-Weiß Guben and in the 1949/50 season the team took tenth place under the new name. After the season the club was renamed BSG Progress Guben.

After the team finished eleventh in the 1950/51 season and managed to stay in league, they finished fifth in the 1951/52 season . After the administrative reform of 1952, the team entered the Cottbus district league . The club took part in the FDGB Cup 1952/54 and the team met the BSG unit Burg in the first main round . After the 2-0 victory they were eliminated by an 8-1 defeat against BSG Motor Altenburg . In 1961 the club was renamed again. The association now entered under the name BSG Chemie Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben.

In the 1985/86 season , the district league Cottbus won and thus qualified for the promotion round to the GDR league . In season 3 of the promotion round, the team from Guben prevailed together with the BSG activist Kali Werra Tiefenort . In the GDR league, the club could not prevail and descend in the 1986/87 season as the bottom of the season A from the GDR league. During the GDR league season, the team from Guben was trained by the 161-time league player Roland Hammer .

In the 1988/89 season, the BSG Chemie Guben qualified for the promotion round to the GDR League and prevailed in season 3 of the promotion round together with the BSG Aufbau dkk Krumhermersdorf . In contrast to the first season in the GDR league , the club was able to keep the 1989/90 season with an eleventh place in season A.

In the following season, the football department, which started for the club SV Chemie Guben in 1990 after the reunification , came second behind  1. FC Union Berlin  , and only just missed promotion. The club then disappeared quickly into oblivion and has since played at the state level. In 2003 the football department of  Chemie Guben  merged with  ESV Lok Guben  and re-established  1. FC Guben  . The current league is the seventh division Brandenburg South.
