Mario Neumann (born December 15, 1966 in Stollberg / Erzgeb. ) Is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He is currently co-trainer and goalkeeping coach at SV Meppen and goalkeeping trainer at the Emsland youth performance center.
Career
As a player
Neumann played from 1988 to 1993 for the FSV Zwickau in the DDR-Oberliga , DDR-Liga and in the NOFV-Oberliga Staffel Süd . From 1993 he played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena which played in the 2nd Bundesliga except for the 94/95 season. He then moved to BV Cloppenburg, where he was on the field 54 times until 2002. He then ended his career until he played again on the 33rd match day of the 2003/04 season against Eintracht Braunschweig II . In the 11/12 and 12/13 seasons he was in the first half of the season for a total of 12 games in the squad but was not used.
As a trainer
Neumann was initially a goalkeeping coach at BV Cloppenburg. In March 2008 he became head coach at Hansa Friesoythe until he left the club in January 2009 at his own request. He then became an assistant coach at BV Cloppenburg, which he held until June 2015.
For the 2015/16 season Neumann moved to SV Meppen as assistant coach and succeeded Jouke Faber, who moved to Ittihad FC . In addition, Neumann is taking over the goalkeeping coach positions at SV Meppen and JLZ Emsland from Stefan Wessels .
