In the 1981/82 season , BSG Chemie Böhlen succeeded in direct resurgence and after two years 1. FC Union Berlin made the leap back into the GDR league .
mode
The game was played in five seasons of 12 teams each (regional aspects). In a double round with a return leg, the season winners and three relegated teams per season were determined. The season winners also determined the two league promoters with a return game in a promotion round.
Season A
Season course
The duel between ASG Vorwärts Stralsund and TSG Bau Rostock (with Gerd Kische ) determined the action at the top of the table until the 20th match day . Then the Rostock lost their last three games and fell back to third place in the table. After four second places, the Stralsund team was finally able to win the relay. The ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg , ISG Schwerin-Süd and BSG Post Neubrandenburg played a good season, but were subject to strong fluctuations to play seriously at the top. Last year's winner BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock ended up in the secured midfield as did TSG Wismar and SG Dynamo Schwerin . Ninth place went to the newcomer BSG Hydraulik Parchim , who dropped out to the top eight teams, but saved himself with a six point lead from relegation. With BSG Motor WW Warnemünde and TSG Neustrelitz , two newcomers returned to the district league after just one year . Neustrelitz relegated from season B two years ago, but could not assert himself in season A either. The third relegated is the BSG Lokomotive Anklam , which has now caught it after being closely relegated last year.

Season B
Season course
The 1. FC Union Berlin could repeat his victory from last year season. This time, however, they faced stronger competition. Especially the newcomer BSG Motor Babelsberg put the iron on. On the 20th matchday, the Babelsbergers, who were always lying in wait, had the chance to push Union from the top of the table with a win against BSG KWO Berlin , because of the better goal difference. Union brought itself into this situation with two games without a win (0-0 in Eisenhüttenstadt and 0-1 against Brandenburg). Babelsberg's nerves now failed and they suffered an unexpected defeat against the Berlin team. The Köpenickers, now awakened from their deep sleep, made the relay victory perfect without any major problems. The SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde , BSG Chemie PCK Schwedt and the BSG Stahl Brandenburg were trying to catch up with the leading duo, but had over the entire season is not the constancy. Then came KWO, BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt , BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf and BSG Bergmann-Borsig Berlin, those teams that had nothing to do with the top of the table or with relegation. The decline of BSG Motor Hennigsdorf , BSG EAB 47 Berlin and BSG Stahl Finow became apparent early on. With the BSG Motor Hennigsdorf, a team caught it that was just able to keep the class last year. For the newcomers from EAB 47 and Finow, the GDR League adventure was over after a year . The league was more than one size too big, especially for Finower.

Season C
Season course
Season C looked like ASG Vorwärts Dessau would go it alone . The battle for the relay win was an exciting affair. By the winter break you had already placed four or five points between yourself and the closest pursuers. This lead was then defended in the spring until matchday 18. On this it came to the top game between Dessau and the relegated league of BSG Chemie Böhlen . Böhlen won 1-0 and smelled morning air again. Dessau, however, brought this defeat completely out of step. On the next matchday they lost 5-1 at SG Dynamo Eisleben and on matchday 21 they didn't get past 0-0 at BSG Lokomotive Stendal . Böhlen, who was able to make all games victorious after the winter break, overtook Dessau before the last matchday due to the better goal difference. Even a 7-2 win against BSG Stahl Nordwest Leipzig was no longer of use to Dessau, because at the same time Böhlen did his homework with a 2-0 win at BSG Chemie Zeitz and, thanks to a great spring round (16-0 points), was the season winner. The duo was followed by two clubs, Eisleben and BSG Chemie Leipzig , which were not yet constant enough to seriously talk about it. Fifth place went to BSG Stahl Blankenburg, which was still in second place during the winter break, but then collapsed completely (4:12 points). With the BSG unit Wernigerode and the BSG Motor Altenburg , two newcomers managed to stay in the league without getting into a major relegation problem. The fight against relegation was divided into three parts. Promoted BSG Empor Halle lost the connection early, the team from Zeitz ran out of air in the final phase and Stahl NW Leipzig fought head to head with BSG Stahl Thale until the end . Due to the defeat in Dessau and the simultaneous victory of Thale against Altenburg, Leipzig had to say goodbye to the district league .

Season D
Season course
Relegated from the league, BSG Stahl Riesa secured the title in Season D with a start-to-finish victory. Starting with 21: 1 points, the Riesaers made a few slip-ups in the second half of the season, but these did not have a negative effect (top of the table). BSG activist Schwarze Pump , newcomer BSG activist Brieske-Senftenberg and FSV Lokomotive Dresden followed at a distance . The other teams all had a level and so the relegation battle was the most interesting thing of the season. Only for the BSG Aufbau Krumhermersdorf were actually sung all masses in the direction of the district league during the winter break (6 points behind) . With Gerd Schädlich as the new coach, the fight for the league's whereabouts took place after the break. After the 18th matchday, the fifth BSG Progress Bischofswerda separated from the last BSG Robur Zittau just 4 points. After the 21st matchday, Bischofswerda and BSG Motor "F.-H." Karl-Marx-Stadt were saved. The remaining six teams played the three relegated teams for the district league on the last day of the match . TSG Gröditz (2: 1 against Riesa) and BSG Motor Werdau (4: 2 against Zittau) secured the class with victories . For Zittau this meant relegation, as well as for BSG Motor Ascota Karl-Marx-Stadt , which lost to Schwarze Pump. The ASG Vorwärts Kamenz reached a goalless draw in Krumhermersdorf to save themselves. For Harmful protégés it was enough, despite 11: 5 points after the winter break not quite to remain in the DDR-Liga ..

Season E
Season course
In season E, BSG Motor Nordhausen secured the season victory this time . They relegated BSG Wismut Gera to second place after a tough fight. This was followed by last year's winner BSG Motor Suhl and the good BSG Chemie IW Ilmenau . BSG Motor Weimar , BSG activist Kali Werra Tiefenort and BSG Motor Rudisleben landed in the safe middle field . For the newcomers BSG Stahl Silbitz and BSG WK Schmalkalden , the die was quickly cast in the direction of the district league . The third relegated was determined between the newcomer BSG Motor Eisenach , the BSG Glückauf Sondershausen and the BSG Progress Weida . With a draw against Ilmenau on the last day of the match, Eisenach was able to keep the class. After defeats, Sondershausen (0: 5 in Nordhausen) and Weida (1: 2 in Tiefenort) not only had the same number of points but also the same goal difference. In this case, the game rules provided for playoffs. In these, Sondershausen clearly prevailed over Weida.
