Frank Jeske (born February 6, 1960 in Wustrau ; † August 27, 1994 in Bückwitz ) was a German football player.

Athletic career

He started his career in his hometown and then later played for BSG electronic Neuruppin . In the 1980/81 season, Frank Jeske was the top scorer in the Potsdam district league with 34 goals.

From the third division he managed the leap into the league to BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf , which he did in the summer of 1982 within the East German second division toward the BSG Stahl Brandenburg left. Here he became known throughout the republic and developed into one of the most prominent goal scorers in the GDR major league in the late 1980s. After winning the season in 1983/84, Jeske made a significant contribution to the entry of the Stahl-Elf in the top division of GDR football in the subsequent, last-time league promotion round with twelve goals in eight games. He booked more than half of all steel hits (21) in the promotion round and scored just as often as in the previous regular league season. For Brandenburg he scored 95 goals in a total of 230 competitive games, making him the second most successful goalscorer in the club's history after Lars Posorski.

The toolmaker was used once in the Olympic selection . On May 12, 1987, the Brandenburg attacker played in the starting line-up in the 0-1 defeat in Karl-Marx-Stadt against the ČSSR for 70 minutes in the GDR dress before André Sirocks replaced him in the storm. His greatest success with the company sports community from Brandenburg he achieved in the league season 1985/86 with the qualification for the European Cup . In the 1986/87 UEFA Cup season he played three UEFA Cup games with the Brandenburgers against Coleraine FC and IFK Göteborg . With the 1-0 win against the Northern Irish, he scored the decisive goal for advancing into the second round.

Further career and accidental death

He let his career end at the beginning of the 1990s at SV Schwarz-Rot Neustadt (Dosse) . He played his last game there on August 27, 1994 against FSV Velten in a 2-2 draw on his own pitch. After the final whistle, the striker had three goals in three league games. On the way home after this game on the 3rd match day of the 1994/95 season in the northern relay of the Northeast Football League , he had a fatal accident in a traffic accident caused by the driver of the car in which Jeske was sitting. He left behind his wife and two sons. The sports field in his home town of Wustrau has been named after him since 2004.
