Uwe Borchardt (born November 12, 1961 in Woltersdorf near Berlin ) is a former German football player.

Soccer career

1. FC Union

Uwe Borchardt began his career as a football player in 1970 at SG Schöneiche, the predecessor community of what would later become SV Germania 90 Schöneiche . In 1975 he moved to the youth department of 1. FC Union Berlin , where he became a junior national player in 1979 and played three junior internationals. He was trained as a vehicle fitter in a Berlin forwarding company. For the 1980/1981 season Borchardt moved up to the 1st Union team and immediately became a regular player with 30 competitive games and 20 goals. In the season 1981/1982 he rose with the team in the GDR league , where he was involved with 29 league games. With 17 goals, he was the top scorer in the GDR league and then voted "Unioner of the Year" by the Union fans. He also played seven international matches with the GDR youth national team in the course of 1981.

In his first league season 1982/83 , the 1.70 m tall Borchardt was used from the 9th game day in 18 of 26 point games. In his first league game on October 30, 1982 he was used in midfield, later he played as a left winger. In the following seasons, with the exception of the league season 1984/85, he never managed to play through a full season. So he played in the four league series from 1982 to 1988 only 71 of a total of 104 games, of which only 43 over the full distance. When Union had to play again for a year in the GDR league after relegation in 1984, Borchardt had a successful series with 30 appearances in 34 point games and 20 goals. In the following season 1985/86 , in which he played again in the league, he could also record most of the cup games of his career. He played six of the nine encounters, but since he failed again in the second half of the season, he missed the cup final on May 31, 1986, but the Union lost 5-1 to 1. FC Lok Leipzig. Uwe Borchardt is to this day (as of January 2017) with 69 goals the fourth best goalscorer in the Union.

Army soccer player

In the league season 1987/88 he got off to a good start when he was used in all matches up to the 9th matchday. After that, however, he was drafted into the military and joined the top club of the GDR People's Army, the upper division FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / O. detached. There he was called up from the 19th match day in six league games, initially as a left winger, later in midfield. For the 1988/89 season Borchardt was delegated from FC Vorwärts to GDR league club ASG Vorwärts Dessau . After the ASG was dissolved in 1989, he played another year as a civilian again in 1989/90 with the successor community SG Dessau 89 in the GDR league. Then Borchardt returned to Berlin.

Career end

Via BSG Chemie Velten he came to the NSC Marathon 02 Berlin , for which Borchardt scored 3 goals in 21 games in the 1991/1992 season of the Northeast amateur league (middle season) . In the first half of 1992 he was active for FC Glarus in Switzerland . Between 1992 and 1995 three seasons followed at VfB Fortuna Biesdorf. His last football station was his youth club SV Germania Schöneiche, with which he completed six seasons from 1996 to 2002. During this time the club made it to the Brandenburg Association League with two promotions . After his footballing career, Borchardt became coach of Schöneiche's 2nd team.
