The DDR-Oberliga 1982/83 was the 34th edition of the top division of the GDR . It began on August 21, 1982 and ended on May 28, 1983. The Berlin FC Dynamo again outclassed the competition and celebrated its fifth championship in a row.
Season course
With three straight wins, the reigning champions Berliner FC Dynamo immediately took the lead in the standings, but had to surrender it to FC Carl Zeiss Jena after three draws in a row . The Berlin team took first place again on matchday eight and at the end of the series they had three points ahead of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . The second half of the season was an impressive performance, a show of strength, in which the club took 25 points out of the 13 remaining games. Runner-up FC Vorwärts Frankfurt was the only club that was not defeated by the BFC. With four game days to go, the nine-point lead was big enough for the fifth championship in a row.
At the end of the table, BSG Sachsenring Zwickau was beaten last early and had to go to the GDR league alongside promoted BSG Chemie Böhlen .
