The 1983/84 UEFA Cup was the 13th edition of the competition organized by UEFA . In the finals, the English representative Tottenham Hotspur prevailed after two finals against the Belgian representative RSC Anderlecht and won the cup for the second time.

mode

The competition was played in six rounds in two legs. In the event of a tie, the number of goals scored away decided first, followed by extra time and finally the penalty shoot-out.

In 1997, RSC Anderlecht top officials admitted that Spanish referee Emilio Carlos Guruceta , who was killed in a BMW in 1987 , was bribed with £ 27,000 before the second leg. In that game, a goal for Nottingham was not given and Anderlecht were awarded a controversial penalty.
