Arnór Guðjohnsen (born April 30, 1961 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic football player and father of Eiður Guðjohnsen (born September 15, 1978).

Career

Club player

Arnór began his professional career in 1978 at SK Lokeren , where he played until 1983. In 1983 he moved to RSC Anderlecht . There he won the Belgian championship three times (1985, 1986, 1987), the Belgian Cup twice (1988, 1989) and the Belgian Supercup three times (1985, 1986, 1987). In addition, Arnór Guðjohnsen was in the 1986/87 season with 19 goals top scorer in the Belgian first division. In 1990 he moved to France to Girondins Bordeaux , where he played until 1992. In 1993 he came to BK Häcken for one season . From 1994 to 1998 Arnór played with Örebro SK before continuing his career from 1998 to 1999 with Valur Reykjavík in his native Iceland. In 2001 he came to UMF Stjarnan on his last move , where he played another 18 games.

National team

From 1979 to 1997 Arnór was a member of the Icelandic national team , for which he played 73 games. On April 24, 1996, the 34-year-old wrote football history when he was substituted for his 17-year-old son Eiður Guðjohnsen at an official international match against Estonia in Tallinn. This was the first and so far only time that a son was substituted on for his father in an international football match.
