The 1991/92 UEFA Cup was the 21st edition of the competition and was won by Ajax Amsterdam in the final against Torino Calcio thanks to the more away goals scored. The first leg in Turin ended 2-2. A 0-0 draw in Amsterdam was enough for Ajax in the second leg . Ajax had one of the youngest teams in the cup competition this season under coach Louis van Gaal . UEFA allowed representatives from the field of NOFV to take part for the last time , as an independent championship was held in the 1990/91 season, despite German reunification in 1990 . These were the FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and the Hallesche FC .
