John van Loen (born February 4, 1965 in Utrecht ) is a former Dutch football player .
He began his career in 1983 with his home club FC Utrecht . From 1988 to 1990 he played for Roda JC Kerkrade . In the 1990/91 season he was under contract with RSC Anderlecht . A season later he was with Ajax Amsterdam until 1993 . In 1993 he went to Feyenoord Rotterdam . In 1995 he moved to Japan to Sanfrecce Hiroshima . In 1996 he moved back to his hometown club FC Utrecht. He ended his career with APOEL Nicosia in 1999 .
He played seven games for the Dutch national soccer team . He scored a goal.
Van Loen was called the Red Baron and Lighthouse because of his red hair .
Today he works as an assistant coach at FC Utrecht and plays for an amateur club in IJsselstein .
