The 1975/76 UEFA Cup was the 5th edition of the competition and was won by Liverpool FC by beating Club Bruges in the final . The defending champion did not take part in the competition because Borussia Mönchengladbach competed in the European Cup.

The most successful German team this season was Hamburger SV , which made it to the semi-finals, but failed there against the Belgian club FC Bruges.

mode

The participants played the winner in pure cup mode with home and away games. In the event of a tie, the away goals rule decided first , then there was an extension , after which the away goals rule came into force again and if there was still no winner, a penalty shoot-out followed .
