Alexander "Alec" Lindsay (born February 27, 1948 in Bury ) is a former English soccer player and was part of the successful team of Liverpool FC at the beginning of the 1970s.

Life

Lindsay was born in Bury, near Manchester . In March 1969 he moved from his hometown club Bury to Liverpool for £ 67,000 . Lindsay's first appearance for Liverpool came in a game of the "Reds" against Dundalk FC , which ended 10-0 for Liverpool and was the team's biggest win for years.

The left full-back won the English Championship and the UEFA Cup with Liverpool in 1973 and the FA Cup a year later . He also played four times for the English national team in 1974 . In the summer of 1977 he left Liverpool to play for Stoke City . Before that, Liverpool FC had won the English championship title twice over the years, as well as the UEFA Cup and the European Cup , but Lindsay had already been ousted by Phil Neal and later by Joey Jones - at least he had at the national championship final the substitutes' bench.

It followed from 1978 years in the North American Soccer League with the Oakland Stompers and Toronto Blizzard , where he ended his career.
