Vojvodina Novi Sad
Vojvodina Novi Sad (officially: SD Vojvodina or Sportsko Društvo Vojvodina, sports company Vojvodina; also SD Vojvodina Novi Sad or Sportsko Društvo Vojvodina Novi Sad, sports company Vojvodina Novi Sad ) is a Serbian sports club from Novi Sad , the second largest city in Serbia . The sports club was founded in 1914 and today is one of the largest sports clubs in the region with sports clubs in 22 different sports , alongside Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade .
The club is best known for its soccer team , basketball team , handball team , volleyball team and water polo team . In addition to several national titles, the sports club also had successes on a European level. The greatest successes include:
- Reaching the quarter-finals in the 1966/67 European Cup , but lost to eventual winner Celtic Glasgow
- Winning the Intertoto Cup in 1976 and reaching the final in 1998, where Werder Bremen were just beaten
- Winning the Mitropa Cup 1977 and reaching the Mitropa Cup final in 1957.
- Won 3rd place in the 1989 Volleyball Champions League and reached the semi-finals in 1996
- Winning the 3rd place during the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1983 and reaching the semi-finals of the Top Teams Cup 2006, the second highest European Cup competition in men's volleyball at the time.
- Won the 2009 Pannonian League , a former Southeast European men's ice hockey league .
This makes Vojvodina Novi Sad one of the most successful sports clubs in Southeast Europe .
