The FC Dunaw Russe ( Bulgarian ФК Дунав Русе ) is a football team from the Bulgarian city of Russe ; she plays in the A Grupa in the 2016/17 season . The team plays its home games in the Gradski Stadium with a capacity of 13,000 seats. The youth team matches are played in the Dunav Stadium (12,000 seats). Training also takes place there.

successes

Earlier years were successful; the team reached the final of the Bulgarian Championship in 1937, was fourth in the first division in 1975 and was four times (1938, 1939, 1941 and 1962) in the Bulgarian Cup final. Dunaw Russe took part in the 1975/1976 UEFA Cup , where they were eliminated after a 1-0 win over AS Roma with a 2-0 second leg.

Under coach Engibar Engibarow , FC Dunaw Russe won the Cup of Amateur Clubs in the 2003/04 season; in the same year they returned to the second Bulgarian professional league.

The times of first class were the years 1958–1967, 1968–1973, 1974–1977, 1984–1986 and 1988–1991. They have been playing in the top division again since the 2016/17 season.

The club's beginnings go back to 1908; a re-establishment took place in 1949, followed by many renaming. The " Dunaw " in the name means " Danube ".
