Vålerenga (officially: Vålerenga IF Fotball ( Vålerengens Idrettsforening )) is a football club in the Norwegian capital, Oslo . It was founded on July 29, 1913. Since the introduction of the highest Norwegian league Vålerenga appeared over the years in the Bislett Stadium and the Ullevaal Stadium . The club has been playing its home games in the privately financed Intility Arena since September 2017 . It is Vålerenga's first own venue with 17,333 seats. The colors of the club, which is regularly abbreviated to VIF in the press, are blue / white / red.
The club celebrated its first championship title in 1965 . The beginning of the 1980s was the most successful time for Vålerenga, winning the championship in 1981 , 1983 and 1984 . In 2005 the club became champions again for the first time after a 20-year lean period with a wafer-thin lead. Vålerenga has won the Norwegian Cup four times so far: 1980, 1997, 2002 and 2008. The club took part in a total of 17 European competitions, most recently in the 2011/12 season in the Europa League. The overall balance: 52 games, 12 wins, 16 draws, 24 defeats, 56:86 goals.
