Marcus Pedersen (born June 8, 1990 in Hamar ) is a Norwegian football player . He has been under contract with Strømsgodset IF in his home country since 2015 .
In 2009 he was next to Jo Inge Berget as the greatest offensive talent in his country.
Club career
Pedersen began his career in the youth of the small Stange Sports Club from Hedmark Province . Soon he was considered one of the greatest regional talents, whereupon he moved to the Ham-Kam club in his hometown Hamar at the age of fourteen . Coach Ståle Solbakken then pushed him right away, let him train with the first team at the age of fourteen and put him in a friendly match.
In the following season Solbakken left the club in the direction of FC Copenhagen and Ham-Kam rose under the new coach Frode Grodås in the Adeccoligaen. In the second performance level he was then under the new coach Arne Erlandsen at the age of sixteen firmly accepted into the professional squad and made his debut on April 7, 2007 in the league game against Skeid Oslo . As a result, he came on four short appearances, but without being able to score a goal.
In the following season, a protracted injury slowed his breakthrough before he was able to score the decisive goal for the 2-1 win against Rosenborg Trondheim on July 9, 2008 . Pedersen came into play in the 84th minute of the game for Roman Kienast and scored in the 90th. By the end of the season, he put a talent test in four more games before the club had to relegate again and Pedersen could no longer be held.
Pedersen decided to move to the traditional club Strømsgodset IF and thus stayed in the Tippeligaen . At "Godset" he was a regular player straight away and made his breakthrough in the professional field with ten goals this season. In the 2009 season he found a congenial offensive partner with Jo Inge Berget, a talent of the same age borrowed from Udinese Calcio , with whom he determined the beginning of the season. In the first nine games of the season, Pedersen alone scored five times (Berget four times), which led to rumors of an early move abroad. Pedersen then played seven more games before he was sold to Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie shortly before the transfer window closed for the club's record transfer fee of around 1.5 million euros .
Since then he has been fighting under coach Albert Ferrer in the league's relegation battle for a regular place in the team. After an injury at the beginning of the season, he started the season as a joker, before he was the only striker in the 4-5-1 system preferred by Ferrer for the first time in the 18th round in the game against Ajax Amsterdam . After an injury in the game against Willem II Tilburg and the commitment of Wilfried Bony for the winter break, he mostly only made short appearances, which is why the striker switched to Vålerenga Oslo on loan in 2012 . After two more stops ( Odense BK , FC Barnsley ), he finally moved back to Norway to Brann Bergen in August 2014 and a year later to his former club Strømsgodset IF .
National team
Pedersen has played for the Norwegian U-15, U-16 and U-17 selection . In 2009, at the age of 18, he was brought forward to the U-21 national team, of which he has been a member until now and is currently forming a storm duo with his former offensive partner at Strømsgodset, Jo Inge Berget. From 2009 to 2013 he played 19 times for the U21 team and scored seven goals.
On January 8, 2013 he made his debut in the senior team in a friendly against South Africa (1-0) in Durban , when he came on in the 63rd minute for Alexander Söderlund . Until his last nomination in 2015, he played nine international matches in which he was able to score. In the friendly game on November 15, 2013 in Denmark (1: 2), the striker equalized.
Others
In 2006 he was accepted by the Norwegian player legend Hallvar Thoresen in the program "Fra talent til toppspiller" ("From talent to top player") initiated by the Olympiatoppen (Norwegian Olympic Committee for the Promotion of Top Sports ). In the pilot project at the time, the ten greatest Norwegian talents between the ages of fifteen and seventeen were to be introduced to professional football through additional individual support.
In addition to Pedersen, seven other players from the program made the leap to professionalism. The oldest player included, Tarik Elyounoussi , is already a senior international .
