Arne Erlandsen (born December 20, 1959 in Kløfta , Norway ) is a former Norwegian football player and current coach .
Player career
Arne Erlandsen began his career in 1979 with the Norwegian first division club Lillestrøm SK . From 1981 to 1982 the Norwegian played for Djurgårdens IF in neighboring Sweden. The team was relegated to the second division as bottom of the table in the preseason. In both years Erlandsen reached the qualifying games for promotion with his Tam and then failed there. For the 1983 season he returned to his former club Lillestrøm. Behind Vålerenga Oslo , the midfielder and his team were runner-up and qualified for the 1984/85 UEFA Cup . In the following season Lillestrøm failed internationally in the first round at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig and could not repeat the good performances of the previous year in the championship. In the end it was enough for 5th place in the table. In 1985 Erlandsen and his team were runner-up behind Rosenborg Trondheim and won the national cup. With this, Lillestrøm secured qualification for the 1986/87 European Cup Winners' Cup . While the club failed again in the first round at Benfica Lisbon , Lillestrøm should finally win his first title in the league in 1986 and become champions. In the following year Erlandsen made it with his club to the second round of the European Cup of National Champions 1987/88 , where they then failed at the French representative Girondins Bordeaux . In the Norwegian league there was another drop in performance and Lillestrøm was only just able to prevent relegation. All the more surprising that the team played for the championship title again in 1988 and became runner-up behind Rosenborg. At that time, the later Eintracht Frankfurt player Jan Åge Fjørtoft was part of the team .
While Erlandsen's team in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup failed again in the first round at Werder Bremen , the club achieved another league title on national soil. After this success, the midfielder moved to the promoted Strømsgodset IF . After you could still achieve relegation in 1990, his team rose a year later as bottom of the table again. The only positive thing about this season was the surprising cup win. In 1992 Arne Erlandsen played one more season for Lillestrøm SK before finally ending his career as an active football player.
National team
From 1978 to 1987 Arne Erlandsen also played 22 games for the Norwegian national soccer team . Despite other well-known players such as Tom Lund , Hallvar Thoresen or Åge Hareide , the national selection failed to qualify for a major tournament during this time.
Coaching career
In 1998 Arne Erlandsen took over the coaching skills at his last club Lillestrøm SK . Under his reign, the club played mostly in the midfield of the league, except for the 2001 runner-up, and the international games were also less successful. Lillestrøm failed in the 2000/01 UEFA Cup in the second round to Deportivo Alavés from Spain. In the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League , the club did not get past the second qualifying round and were beaten by FK Željezničar Sarajevo . In 2005, the Norwegian took over the coaching position with the Swedes from IFK Gothenburg . After the runner-up in 2005 he resigned there after a mixed second season and internal differences with the new sports director Håkan Mild . The team was also eliminated early from the 2006/07 UEFA Cup after two defeats by Derry City . In 2007 Erlandsen took over the coaching position at Ham-Kam , who had previously been relegated from the first to the second division. With his new team he celebrated the direct resurgence. But the joy only lasted a year, because Ham-Kam was relegated again to the second division. Due to very poor performance, the team slipped into the table cellar in the second division in 2009 and Erlandsen was dismissed as coach.
In the summer of 2010, Erlandsen took over the third division Ullensaker / Kisa IL, which was in the relegation battle . After the successful relegation, he led the team at the end of the following season in the second-rate Adeccoligaen . It even almost succeeded in marching through to the first-class Tippeligaen . After a sixth place in the table and winning the promotion round they failed only in the decisive playoff games against Sandnes Ulf , the 14th in the first division.
