Håkan Mild (born June 14, 1971 in Trollhättan ) is a former Swedish football player .

career

Debut in professional football

Mild played in his youth at Trollhättans FK in his hometown. In 1988 he moved to IFK Göteborg , where he was initially employed in the youth department. He made his first appearance in the professional team in September 1988 in a friendly against IF Elfsborg . It took another nine months before he could celebrate his competitive debut: On July 27, 1989, he was substituted on in the first division game against Halmstads BK .

Success with IFK Göteborg

In 1990 Mild had finally fought for a regular place and was able to celebrate his first Swedish championship title in the same year. The following year they even managed to double when, in addition to first place in the Allsvenskan, AIK Solna was defeated 3-2 in the final game of the Svenska Cup .

Mild was appointed to the Swedish selection for the 1992 Olympic Games , where he completed all four games. In the 1992/93 UEFA Champions League he played all ten games for IFK Göteborg, who failed in the group stage in second at AC Milan . In 1993 he was a third time with the club of Swedish champions.

To Switzerland and back

In 1993 Mild moved to Switzerland to Servette FC Genève , where he was able to celebrate the Swiss championship straight away. In the summer he was called up to the Swedish national team for the 1994 World Cup . At the beginning only a supplementary player, he was in the starting line-up from the quarterfinals. In the game for third place he scored his only goal in the tournament, when he scored the interim 2-0 in the 30th minute of the 4-0 win over Bulgaria .

In his second season with Servette the success failed and in the summer he returned to IFK Göteborg. With the club he was able to celebrate his fourth championship. After successfully defending his title, he tried again abroad in 1996.

To Spain and back

Mild joined Real Sociedad San Sebastián in 1996 . He played in Spain for two years and made 49 appearances in the Primera División . Third place in 1998 was the club's best result in the 1990s. Nevertheless, Mild returned to IFK Gothenburg one more time.

His return to Sweden was not crowned with the same success as his first two stays at the club. After an eighth place in 1998 and a sixth place in the table in 1999, the best result came in fourth place in 2000.

To England and back

After Mild played twice for Sweden at the 2000 European Championships and was eliminated in the preliminary round, he moved to England for FC Wimbledon , which was relegated to the First Division after 14 years of first class . However, he came in his first season at the club on only nine missions. Therefore, Mild decided shortly after the start of the second season, in which he had not been used to date, to return to IFK Gothenburg.

With his support, the club just managed to stay in the league. He played for the club until the end of the 2005 season, only interrupted by minor injury problems. On December 11, 2005 he appeared in the game for the Royal League against Lyn Oslo for the last time for his club. His name was sung by supporters of Gothenburg throughout the game.

After the end of the season he took over the post of sports director in the club.
