Hallvar Thoresen (born April 12, 1957 in Larvik ) is a former Norwegian football player and current football coach .
Player career
society
Thoresen was trained at the Norwegian football club Larvik Turn . At the age of 17 he was drawn abroad. In the summer of 1976, the Dutch club FC Twente Enschede signed him . After his first season in the Eredivisie , the attacking midfielder was able to celebrate winning the KNVB Cup . After five years Thoresen was poached by league competitor PSV Eindhoven . At PSV, he formed the heart of the team with Jurrie Koolhof, who was signed up in 1982 . Between 1986 and 1988, the championship was won three times in a row and in 1988 the Dutch Cup was won. In the period from 1983 to 1986 Thoresen was used as the team captain of the team and was thus the mainstay. Thoresen had his greatest success with Eindhoven in his last season in the Netherlands, when he won the European Cup alongside the cup and the championship. In the summer of 1988 he returned home to the lower class club Frigg Oslo FK .
Thoresen never played in the Tippeligaen , Norway's highest league, in his career .
National team
Thoresen was part of the Norwegian national team between 1979 and 1989 . In ten years he played 50 games and scored nine goals.

Coaching career
After his playing career, Thoresen became a coach at Frigg Oslo FK in 1991 . In the following years he also looked after the teams from Strømsgodset IF , Brann Bergen , Odd Grenland , Lillestrøm SK , the Norwegian Olympic team and Skeid Oslo .
Private
Thoresen's father Gunnar Thoresen was also a Norwegian international. In 1981 Thoresen played a supporting role in the film Escape or Victory alongside football greats such as Bobby Moore , Pelé and Osvaldo Ardiles as well as the actors Michael Caine , Max von Sydow and Sylvester Stallone .
