John Alieu Carew (born September 5, 1979 in Lørenskog ) is a former Norwegian football player and actor .

Carew is the son of a Gambier and a Norwegian. He won the Norwegian Cup in 1997 with Vålerenga IF and in 1999 with Rosenborg Trondheim Norwegian Champion. From Trondheim he went to Valencia CF in 2000 , with whom he became Spanish champion and was in the final of the Champions League . In 2003 he moved to Italy on loan to AS Roma and in 2004 to the Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul , and in 2005 to Olympique Lyon . In the winter break of 2006/07 he moved to Aston Villa in exchange with Milan Baroš . During the 2010/11 winter break he was loaned to Stoke City until the end of the 2010/11 season. In August 2011, Carew was signed by West Ham United ; there his contract ran out at the end of the 2011/12 season.

Carew made 91 senior international matches for Norway from 1998 to 2011 , in which he scored 24 goals. With the national team he took part in the 2000 European Football Championship .

He was awarded the Karoline Prize in 1999 and the Kniksen Prize in 2005, 2007 and 2008 as the best Norwegian footballer .

From 2018 to 2019 he played in two seasons of the Norwegian series Heimebane, a football player who was about to end his career.
