history

Stabæk IF , as well as its Stabæk Fotball division , was founded in 1912 in the village of Stabekk in Bærum Municipality. The name of the association is derived from the name Stabekks. Stabæk is the archaic spelling of Stabekks, which the club kept even after moving to Bekkestua (also part of Bærum municipality). The Stabæk IF is a multi-sports club which, besides the Stabæk Fotball men also Stabæk Fotball Kvinner are (women), Stabæk Håndball and the Stabæk Bandy and Stabæk Alpine (skiing) whose clubs are also very successful.

For a long time, the Stabæk Fotball team played only inferiorly. The club's ascent began in the late 1980s, when the team marched through the league system from 1987 to 1995 after advancing to the fourth division and reached the first-class Tippeligaen .

After Stabæk Fotball played against relegation in the first year, the team settled in mid-league in the following years. The first title was won in 1998 when the team triumphed in the Norwegian Cup with a 3-1 final win against Rosenborg BK . In the same year, the third place in the table achieved the best placement to date and the team took part in the UEFA Cup for the first time. In the 2004 season she finished only the penultimate place in the table and had to relegate to the Adeccoligaen . After the commitment of the Swedish coach Jan Jönsson , the immediate promotion succeeded. With the storm duo Daniel Nannskog and Veigar Páll Gunnarsson , who always ranked at the top of the scorers' list in the following years, the team was able to establish itself at the top of the table. On October 26, 2008 Stabæk secured with a 6-2 win over Vålerenga one game day before the end of the season for the first time the Norwegian championship. The team missed the double with a clear 1: 4 defeat in the cup final against Vålerenga IF , but was able to retaliate in the superfinal between champions and cup winners before the start of the following season with a 3-1 success. In 2012, he was relegated to the second-class Adeccoligaen. In the following season, the club managed to return to the top division directly. Stabæk took second place behind second division champions Bodö / Glimt , so that the club competed in the Tippeligaen again in the 2014 season. In the 2014 season, the club finished ninth and thus a place in the midfield of the league. In the 2015 season, Stabæk took third place, 13 points behind master Rosenborg Trondheim . In the following season Stabæk had to compete due to the 14th place out of 16 teams in the relegation . There you met the club FK Jerv , who had occupied third place in the second division. In the first leg, Stabæk lost 0-1 away, but was able to forget about it in Nadderud at home with a 2-0 win. With the victory in the relegation, Stabæk will also start in the Tippeligaen in the 2017 season.
