The Eliteserien 2020 is the 76th season of the highest Norwegian football league and the 4th season under the name Eliteserien . Originally, the season should start on April 4th and end on November 28th. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway , all activities have been suspended until further notice and the planned start of the season in mid-May was finally postponed to June 16. The number of spectators is limited to a maximum of 200 per game.

The 16 teams of the season consist of the 13 best-placed clubs from the previous season as well as the three promoted teams Aalesunds FK , Sandefjord Fotball and Start Kristiansand from the OBOS league 2019 . They play the champions and relegated players against each other in home and return matches. The champions take part in the 1st qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League and the second and third place in the 2nd qualifying round for the UEFA Europa Conference League .
