The 1. Divisjon 1968 was the 24th season of the highest Norwegian football league and the sixth season under the name 1. Divisjon . The season began on April 25, 1968 and ended on October 20, 1968.

mode

The 10 teams played against each other in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 18 games. Champion was the leader after the last match day. The last two teams had to be relegated.

season

SFK Lyn became Norwegian champion for the second time. In addition, the club made the double by winning the Norwegian Cup.

In the first half of the season the championship was still very even. Only in the second half of the season SFK Lyn was able to break away from the pursuers. They secured the title after the 16th matchday.

The appearance of the eventual champions SFK Lyn on matchdays 9 and 10 was also curious this season. First they suffered the biggest defeat since the introduction of the 1st Divisjon with a 1:10 at Strømsgodset IF . But on the very next match day they turned the tables and won the game with the highest number of goals in Norwegian single-track championship history to date (December 2009): 11-2 against Viking Stavanger .

The two promoted Brann Bergen and Viking Stavanger were able to place in the upper half of the league and thus keep the class.

The top scorer in the league was Odd Iversen from Rosenborg BK for the second time in a row . With 30 goals, he achieved a peak value that has not yet been achieved today (December 2019).
