Tippeligaen 2007

The Tippeligaen 2008 was the 64th season of the highest Norwegian football league, which was held for the 18th time under the name Tippeligaen according to a sponsorship agreement . Between March 29 and November 2, 2008, the fourteen first division teams played against each other in a simple round-trip round, so that after 26 days of play the national champions, the other European Cup participants, the participants in the relegation games and the relegated teams to the Adeccoligaen were determined. On November 12th, after the second relegation game, all sporting decisions were made. Due to an increase in the league for the following season, there was only one direct relegated.

Stabæk IF from Bærum won the Norwegian national championship for the first time in the club's history at the end of the season. The club relegated Fredrikstad FK and Tromsø IL to the European Cup places. While newly promoted Hamarkameratene had to relegate directly, Aalesunds FK prevailed in the relegation against Sogndal Fotball .

Season course

On March 29, the season started with the duel Vålerenga Fotball against Aalesunds FK , which the hosts won with a 1-0 win with a goal from Morten Berre . While Lyn Oslo , Vålerenga Fotball, Viking Stavanger and Fredrikstad FK were still four teams tied with six points at the top of the league on matchday three , the top of the table was rectified in the following game days. Stabæk IF in particular stood out and remained unbeaten until matchday 11, before tenth Tromsø IL inflicted their first defeat of the season with a 4-2 away win at Nadderud Stadium for the club from Bærum . Behind them, a broad midfield had formed - while the league leaders were six points ahead of third-placed FK Bodø / Glimt after the defeat , the promoted team also had eight points ahead of the last non-relegation place occupied by Aalesunds FK. At the end of the table it became clear early on that the second climber of the previous year, Ham-Kam from Hamar in Eastern Norway , had to prove himself in the battle for the class battle, as the club graced the end of the table from the sixth match day.

After another defeat and a goalless draw against Viking Stavanger, Stabæk IF lost the championship lead to Fredrikstad FK on the last matchday of the first half of the season, but the duo had already played out a lead of five and four points respectively on Tromsø IL and Lyn Oslo, who were tied behind them. As a result, the two rivals took turns at the top of the table, with Fredrikstad FK benefiting from a postponement of the duel between Rosenborg BK and Stabæk IF. After this had been made up in early August and Stabæk IF had prevailed with a 2-1 away win through goals from Alanzinho and Veigar Páll Gunnarsson in a goal from Alexander Tettey , the club took the lead. Bit by bit, the team around Morten Skjønsberg , Henning Hauger , Jon Inge Høiland and Pontus Farnerud , the late signing in the summer, expanded their lead, with Johan Andersson and Daniel Nannskog in particular shining as regular goal scorers. Behind them, Fredrikstad FK and Tromsø IL fought a duel for second place for a long time, before Tromsø IL ran out of steam towards the end of the season and Fredrikstad FK was six points behind the top of the table, up to seven points from Tromsø IL. This started a battle for third place in the table, which also qualified for qualification for the UEFA Europa League . While Stabæk IF was the champion after the 25th matchday - already close to the 24th matchday with six points ahead and a goal difference better by 20 goals, the championship chances of Fredrikstad FK were only theoretical - Tromsø had before the kick-off of the 26th and final matchday IL with 41 season points and Rosenborg BK, Viking Stavanger and FK Bodø / Glimt, two points behind them, have a chance of making it into the European Cup. Tommy Knarvik made an early decision when he scored the decisive goal for Tromsø IL's 1-0 win against champions Stabæk IF in the tenth minute of the game, guaranteeing the club third place in the table.

Before the last matchday, Aalesunds FK and Ham-Kam had lost the chance of direct relegation when both teams were four and five points behind the last non-relegation place. Therefore, there was only a long-distance duel between the two teams to reach the relegation place. While Ham-Kam left the local Briskeby gressbane against Molde FK as a loser and was thus determined to be relegated, the competitor was able to secure the penultimate place in the table with a 3-0 home win against Lillestrøm SK . In the relegation games, the club remained successful in both games, Sogndal Fotball suffered two defeats and missed promotion.

In addition to qualifying for the European Cup through the league, the cup winner also qualified for the Europa League. For the fourth time in the club's history, Vålerenga Fotball won the title and thus reached an international competition despite a tenth place in the table. As the winner of the UEFA fair play rating , the league was also allowed to register another team for the Europa League apart from sporting decisions, this affected Rosenborg BK, fifth in the table.
