The Brann Stadium ( Norwegian Brann Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Norwegian city of Bergen in the province of Vestland . It is the home stadium of the Brann Bergen football club , was built in 1919 and has been modernized several times since then. It currently holds 17,686 spectators in a regular league game with standing stands.
history
The stadium was inaugurated on May 25, 1919 with the game Brann Bergen against the Norwegian national football team (2: 6). A special feature of the stadium is its location at the foot of the Ulriken , Bergen's local mountain. In autumn 2005, after several and long-term objections from the neighborhood, a building permit was issued for the missing grandstand on Klokkesvingen . This grandstand has meanwhile been completed, as has the ultra-modern new main grandstand. In the winter of 2010, the capacity should be increased to 21,500 by expanding the open corners. The standing stands of Store Stå enjoyed cult status , on which the hard core of fans found themselves in league games, but which were demolished at the end of 2006 in favor of the new main stand. The attendance record is 24,800 when Brann Bergen faced Fredrikstad FK in 1961 .
