The Marienlyst Stadium is a football and bandy stadium in the Norwegian city and municipality Drammen . Drammen is located in southern Norway about 40 kilometers southwest of Oslo in Fylke Viken . The local elite series team Strømsgodset IF has been using the venue, which opened in 1924, since 1967 . In addition, the two lower-class clubs SBK Drafn and SBK Skiold play their football matches. The stadium is also the sporting home of the Drammen Bandy bandy team. Bandy is a forerunner of ice hockey that is played with a ball. The stadium is also called Gamle Gress ( German  old grass ) and today has 8935 seats. Right next to the facility is the multi-purpose hall Drammenhallen with approx. 5000 seats.

In the winter of 1971/72 a new grandstand was built on the long side of the square. In 1996 the 67-year-old pitch was renewed. The old wooden grandstand was demolished in 2001/02 and a new main grandstand was built. In June 2007, the city council of Drammen decided to rebuild the stadium. In November 2007, work began on removing the natural turf from the stadium and replacing it with artificial turf . 82 km of pipeline are laid under the artificial grass  . 3000  m 3 of earth were dug and filled with the same amount of expanded clay balls. The artificial turf is then laid on an insulating layer. In winter, the 100 × 64 meter play area can be transformed into an ice surface; the lawn can also be heated . Football matches are held throughout the year and bandy is played on the ice in winter.

There were plans to build a new stadium, which were released in June 2009. The association and the city could not agree on the financing of the project and so the end of this project came in November of that year. The city offered financial means to adapt the Marienlyst Stadium to the requirements of the Norwegian association NFF .
