The Hovedserien 1954/55 was the eleventh season of the highest Norwegian football league and the seventh season under the name Hovedserien . The season began on July 25, 1954 and ended with the final on June 5, 1955.

mode

The 16 teams played against each other in two groups, each with eight teams, in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 14 games. The two last placed had to be relegated.

The champion was determined in a final game between the two group winners. Compared to the previous season, some of the groups have been redistributed.

season

Larvik TIF became Norwegian champion for the second time. In the final, defending champion Fredrikstad FK was defeated 4-2.

Of the newcomers only IF Fram Larvik had to relegate. Brann Bergen , Ranheim IL and Vålerengens IF were able to hold out in the Hovedserien .
